Jovoy Paris - Les Jeux sont Faits

Some films mark an entire generation, their dialogue and scenes become myth and their actors’ faces are forever fixed in the popular imagination.
For dialogue, Audiard comes to mind: the kitchen scene in the 1963 filmLes Tontons flingueurs (known in the US as Monsieur Gangster and in the UK as Crooks in Clover), for example. There are films where androgynous hippies keep company with charismatic rogues. This is the world of French icons Lino Ventura, Bernard Blier, Jean Gabin and Francis Blanche.
Streetwalkers set hearts aflame in smoky gambling dens, where accounts are settled with powerful uppercuts and machine guns. The action is fast and furious: “I’m gonna show him who Raoul is.”
François Hénin wanted to pay vibrant homage to these virile icons of the French cinema, characters who marked an era, and whose auras still remain intact.
This was the challenge set before perfumer Dorothée Piot (Robertet), who delivers an opulent fragrance, a major men’s scent that makes no concessions.
For some, this fragrance evokes the supercharged ambiance of a boxing match. All around the ring, the crowd screams as the boxers strive to knock out their opponent. For others, it brings to mind the atmosphere of neighborhood cinemas where one could hear the whirling of the film reel.
“Les jeux sont faits” also recalls the palpable tension around the gaming tables, whether at the casino or a chic gambling parlor.
