Pierre Guillaume - Huitieme Art
In 2010, for its 8th anniversary of Parfumerie Générale, the establishment he founded in 2002, the Perfume Creator Pierre GUILLAUME joins forces with critic Octavian COIFAN in the idea that Perfumery is perhaps THE Eighth Art and presents his new creations under a second brand entitled "Huitième Art Parfums" (Eighth Art Perfumes).
Ernest Beaux already predicted in the early XXth century that the salutation of Modern perfumery would come from the laboratories and discoveries of the chemistry of odorant molecules. Thus, perfumers accessing new odorant molecules like a painter discovering a whole new rainbow palette, would be capable of arousing new olfactory emotions....
What would Chanel N° 5 be without its aldehydes, L'Eau Sauvage without Hédione®, Angel without Ethyl Maltol, Fahrenheit without Iso E Super®, New West Aramis without Calone®...
All these masterpieces of the Perfume world have boldly paved the way to a new olfactory avenue, surprising their audience and thereby opening up new channels of compositions to perfume creators.
In the maize of bespoke and mainstream perfumes, Contemporary Perfumery is still sometimes fuelled by the discoveries of the benchmarks in perfume and aroma chemistry but were do plant biotechnologies come into the equation?
New extraction and olfactory photography methods allowing for living matter to be analysed and captured now give a say to common or exotic plants, roots, flowers, wood or simply fruit, until now totally mute to the perfumer.
