Inspirations
In his perfume “Bois de Turquie” (Turkish Wood), Jean Paul Millet Lage wanted to recreate the unique atmosphere felt by the visitor arriving in the Bosphorus strait. Bridge between Orient and Occident, between Anatolia and Thrace, this destination awakes the most diverse emotions inside those who stop there, aroused by the rich mix of cultures and the variety of sensations.
Richly brocaded motifs of Iznik ceramics, Eminönü souk’s spicy flavors, mix themselves indistinctively with the power of the Taurus mountain. On its hillside grows Noble Laurel : an aromatic plant with a naturally heady perfume, which the summer heat diffuses.
Fruit of a patient elaboration, “Bois de Turquie” expands slowly like a sensual dance and lets its last veils fall only to unroll at your feet the rich carpets of myrrh and incense, oriental aromas which captivate the senses and rapture the spirit. In all times used for their appeasing influence on the psyche, people used to say that the kings from the Orient felt a particular pleasure to breathe these hypnotizing fragrances until they lost their mind…
In front of the minarets tinted golden by the reflection of the sunset, of the sails swollen by the Bosphorus breeze and the powerful emotion of the antique ruins, Maître Parfumeur et Gantier sets a bunch of noble laurel on fire by adding unique aromatic notes. Patiently crafted, this masterpiece of refinement combines the oriental richness of myrtle and incense, with a hint of light tangerine which occidentalizes the blend.
