Shipping Dangerous Goods Outside the European Union
Perfumes are classified as Dangerous Goods because they contain alcohol, which is a flammable substance. International air transport of perfumes is therefore subject to strict IATA (International Air Transport Association) regulations.
ParfuMaria is fully certified to ship perfumes internationally in accordance with these regulations. All Dangerous Goods shipments are packed, documented and transported in compliance with the applicable legal requirements.
Because of these strict regulations, shipping perfumes outside the European Union requires special packaging, documentation and handling. This makes international perfume shipments considerably more expensive than regular parcels. We absorb a substantial part of these additional shipping costs ourselves.
Orders outside the European Union are shipped via FedEx Special Dangerous Goods Transport.
Please note:
• Customs authorities may inspect your shipment upon arrival in your country.
• Customs duties, import taxes and customs clearance fees are the responsibility of the recipient. These charges vary from country to country and are beyond our control.
• An official commercial invoice is attached to every shipment, as required for international customs clearance.
• Orders shipped outside the European Union are supplied without Dutch VAT, provided the destination qualifies for VAT exemption.
• The maximum shipment weight for Dangerous Goods transport is 3 kg per order.
Only products containing alcohol, such as perfumes, home fragrances and reed diffusers, are classified as Dangerous Goods. Products such as cosmetics, soaps and candles are generally not subject to these regulations.
Important information regarding VAT
For destinations where Dutch VAT does not apply, both the product prices and the shipping costs are shown excluding Dutch VAT. Any local VAT, import duties or customs charges are determined by the destination country and are payable by the recipient.
