THE EMPIRE STATE OF FRAGRANCES

Floral designs ubiquitous from the end of the 19th century are extremely rare these days
as most of the contemporary ‘mass’ perfume labels bear the name of a designer house.
The logo of the VON EUSERSDORFF, created by the celebrated Dutch Art Director Boy
Bastiaens, brings back the flower as the traditional ornament for fragrances.
 

The name VON EUSERSDORFF echoes the historical heritage of the label founding

ancestors: A skilled family of German emigrants involved in the world-trade of rare oils,
herbs, spices and petals for nearly three centuries.
Mastering an artisan practice that was the initial cradle of the perfume industry as we
currently know it.


Camille Henfling, the wizard behind the label’s rebirth is in fact the descendant from the
VON EUSERSDORFF lineage. Formally a businessman, he felt the need to re-unite with
his inner core; a process which lead him to rediscover his family heritage.

Growing up as a child, he remembers the heavily scented atmosphere in the apothecary
of his grandfather; his holidays spent exploring the rich aromatic textures inside the
warehouses of his family plantations in Costa Rica...or days spent wandering about the
herbs and spices stock depots in the Netherlands.
 

His cosmic alarm clock went off and following a hint, he moves to Grasse, taking with
him some of the secret formulas he discovered in the family’s archives. For 3 years,
he learns all there is to know about the process of creating a fragrance and gradually
puts together the trusted team of skilled laboratorians that collaborate with him today,
there as breathing new life into his ancestor’s tradition. The expertise gained over the
years enables him to give a contemporary olfactory interpretation of his own heritage by
confronting it to a 21st century dynamic.

Although entirely conceived and produced in the perfume mecca city of Grasse in the

South of France, VON EUSERSDORFF actually takes inspiration from the dynamism of
New York City where the creative team behind the label is based.

With a knowledge handed over from one generation to the next, VON EUSERSDORFF
proves that a small independent fragrance label is a true commitment to authenticity.
